Remembering Stewards-mate 1st Class Charles David, who served in the cutter Comanche during World War II. Seaman David leapt into frigid waters with a line attached to him. Using a still experimental rescue swimmer tether, he assisted in the saving nearly 100 soldiers and sailors of the SS Dorchester. In honoring one of their own, a new Coast Guard Cutter will be named after him.
